Braggers Wood Campsite and Activity Centre is set in eight acres of forest woodland. It is in the SW corner of the New Forest National Park and three miles from the sea and beaches. It is run by Christchurch Scout District who would like to extend you a warm welcome.
Many people pick us as they want to visit Brownsea Island, the birthplace of scouting. Braggers Woods is located 15 miles from Poole Quay where you can access a ferry to the Island. Being between Christchurch with its historic harbour and Ringwood market town, and not so far from Bournemouth, there are plenty of opportunities for offsite activities.
The site has plenty of individual camp pitches of differing sizes, for small groups up to large district and even international events. There are also three lodges for sleepovers, colder seasons and that extra bit of comfort. And also a 2 person self-contained den. Many of the facilities you’d expect from a good scout camp but one or two may surprise you.
There is also two marquees permanently erected on a shingle base as one event space. They are on the main field and available for hire.
Braggers Wood has been run by Christchurch District for over 50 years. Dave is our resident warden and there is a team of people who enthusiastically look after and develop the site so that scouts from all over the country and indeed the world, can come and experience great camping in a woodland setting.
